1999-2000 PBL Grandslam champions: Welcoat House Paints

Game three of the Welcoat-Ana series ended in a controversy when Ana's Paolo Mendoza converted a triple as the time reached the 0.4 mark, a fraction of a second. The referees ruled the shot not counted, thus preserving a 58-56 title-clinching victory for Welcoat.

Welcoat House Paints scored a 3-0 sweep over Ana Water Dispenser and win back-to-back championships.

Each decade of special ABC triumph

In May-June 1986, the ESQ Merchants, carrying the name Pasig Giants, won the ABC Intercity tournament in Jakarta, Indonesia. Under coach Nat Canson, the team missed the services of top gunner Allan Caidic, who was a member of the national team preparing for the Asian Games that year.

Among the members of ESQ-Pasig were Jojo Martin, adjudged MVP of the tournament, Hernani Demigillo, Edgar Macaraya and Jerome Cueto. One can notice the "L" sign on the players that seem to suggest the EDSA People Power fever.

A decade later in September 1995, a PBL selection sponsored by Andok's and reinforced by Bobby Parks and former Ginebra import Alex Coles, won the 6th ABC Champions Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, defeating Petronas of Malaysia in the finale.

The 1987 Philippine national team to the Bangkok ABC

Our national team, this time handled by coach Joe Lipa, will try to defend the ABC title and a shot at securing a berth in the Olympics.

South Korea hotshot Lee-Chung-Hee was difficult to defend with.

Alvin Patrimonio made it to the mythical five selection.

As seen in the photo, our national team was sponsored by Tanduay. The team placed fourth, losing to Japan in their battle for the Bronze medal.
