In the 1988 Freedom Cup finals, Magnolia Ice Cream nip Sta.Lucia Realty, 87-86, in the third and final game to win their 3rd PABL title. The team had Nelson Asaytono, Paul Alvarez, Dindo Pumaren and Gido Babilonia in their lineup.
Magnolia scored a 2-0 finals sweep over Sta.Lucia in the 1989 Invitational Cup.
The Ice Cream Makers had six national mainstays, they are Gido Babilonia, Larry Villanil, Carlito Mejos, Mark Tallo and two rookies from De La Salle, Jun Limpot and Johnedel Cardel.
In the 1989 Maharlika Cup, Magnolia again defeated Sta.Lucia for the championship as the Realtors finishes bridesmaid in all three conferences of the season. Sta.Lucia placed runner-up to Swift in the 2nd Conference.
