The 1977 MICAA season saw the return of Crispa's amateur team, after an absence from last season, plus two newcomers; Villar Records, a pioneer in the Philippine music world and was the first Interclub champion in its maiden year in 1975, and Solid Mills, the 1976 Interclub champion. Both were taken in by the biggest amateur basketball tournament in the country.
The team standings in the first round of eliminations shows Solid Mills on top with 7 wins and 2 losses, followed by four teams tied at 6-3, Yco Painters, Crown Motors, Manilabank and ITM. San Miguel and Villar at 5-4, CFC at 3-6, Crispa with 1-8, and Seven-Up, winless at 0-9.
