The Concepcion Motorolas defeated the YCO Painters in a playoff for the right to face the Toyota Comets in the 1973 MICAA finals.
In the picture, Geny Lucindo of Concepcion Motorolas and Elias Tolentino of YCO are guarding each other at the paint. This was the controversial sefinal series wherein a match was replayed in YCO's favor due to a whistle from the crowd in the waning seconds which YCO thought was from the referees. This decided the game which was considered unfair for YCO. The game was replayed and Concepcion won with captain Jimmy Mariano addressing the crowd and insultingly declared that they are willing to face YCO again anytime anywhere should the game be replayed again.
ReplyDeleteAs an YCO fan, I was avenged by the newly formed Toyota Comets when they handilly defeated Concepcion in the finals.
